Social Work, University of Regina. The Faculty of Social Work offers professional programs providing social work education leading to certificates and degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level. Our programs prepare students to enter the field of human service across Canada, and in particular, among Saskatchewan's urban and rural communities. Our undergraduate degree programs are generalist in approach; they comprise problem solving techniques that enable our students to assess situations and determine appropriate means of intervention. Generalist social work practice also involves connecting individuals, families and communities to available resources, as well as advocating for equitable resource distribution. In the Faculty of Social Work we value the importance of practical education. Our programs incorporate required practical experience in social work settings, called practicum. Descriptions of each program are provided below. Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)The BSW is a four- year degree program offered through the Faculty of Social Work, as well as Yukon College and regional colleges throughout Saskatchewan. In the BSW Program our emphasis is on preparing our students for work in urban, rural and remote areas including diverse individuals, families and communities with various circumstances. Faculty Members from the School of Indigenous Social Work at First Nations University of Canada are involved in this program. The MISW program aims to prepare students as clinical practitioners, especially skilled in Aboriginal approaches to therapy and especially sensitive to issues facing Aboriginal communities. Certificate in Social Work (CSW) * Aurora College Only *The CSW is a two- year program delivered in affiliation with the School of Health & Human Services at Aurora College in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The focus of the CSW is on social issues and cultural groups in northern communities, and the program is designed for students who intend to work in the North after graduating. Upon completion, students may apply to have credit for the CSW program applied towards a BSW with the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina, or with Yukon College.
